The Norwegian/English owners of these two self-catering holiday properties have lived in Tonbridge for 25 years. They converted the18th Century barn behind their centrally-located oast house 14 years ago for holiday letting and have since added a new flat beside the river and Tonbridge Park.
Tonbridge is an ancient market town on the River Medway in the county of Kent, where the Normans built a motte-and-bailey castle in the 11th Century.
The town has a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. Tonbridge Park offers an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, boat trips and play area for children. There are frequent fast trains to London (35-40 minutes).
The South Coast is 30 miles away. Hever and Leeds Castles, Penshurst Place, Chartwell, Ightham Mote, Sissinghurst, Lullingstone Roman Villa and numerous other historical sites are within easy reach. Canterbury, the medieval cinque ports of Rye and Tenterden and the Channel Tunnel are less than an hour's drive.
